At Thy Erhvervsforum's annual New Year's Eve party, the Thybo of the Year award was handed out Friday afternoon
HANSTHOLM: Thybo of the Year 2022 is Søren Lukassen, director and co-owner of Nordthy A/S in Østerild.
On Friday, he was honored by the 160 participants at Thy Erhvervsforum's annual New Year's Eve party, which this year was held at Hotel Hanstholm, where he was also presented with the award in the form of a statuette of the Thisted Girl.
- You make the rest of us proud to have a company and a director who wants to develop a company and jobs in Thy, embracing the highly professional in combination with a strong social responsibility, said Director of Sparekassen Thy Ole Beith in his speech for the award recipient.
- You are a true local patriot who not only develops a company, but contributes to the development of a region, said Ole Beith, who in his speech also summarized some of the tremendous development the family business Nordthy has been through over the years.
It all started with B. Lukassen's cakes, which was founded in 1966 and grew over the course of a few years to serve merchants throughout North Jutland with 10 trucks. The rapid growth meant that space became limited and the company built a large building at the current address in the 1990s.

As concepts evolved and central distribution became more widespread, the company phased out its own cars and during the 2000s began importing products under its own name - and thus the Nordthy name was born.
Since then, several acquisitions have strengthened Nordthy's position in the market, and the headquarters in Østerild has been growing almost constantly in recent years.
- Soren, it's not you alone who creates it, but you are the head of the company. For you, a day without development is a sad day. You would probably say boring," said Ole Beith and continued:
- This is a company where the number of employees has passed 100 and the next generation is already well established in the company. And in my experience, with great success.
Søren Lukassen gave a small speech of thanks after receiving the statuette in his hand, and he thanked the selection committee several times for choosing to look towards "Udkantsthy" and Østerild:
- Looking at those who have already received the award, it's a really great company to be a part of. And the fact that it's number 25 doesn't matter at all, it's such a good anniversary number, Søren Lukassen said in his speech, where he also emphasized the importance of helping in the local community - but also sent a thank you to the family:
- As a business leader, you don't always have enough hours in the day, and you need to have the support system in place. I have a lot of family and friends behind me, to whom I owe a big thank you for getting me to this point.
- I am incredibly proud to receive the award, and when I look at it in the future, I'm sure it will bring back many good memories, Søren Lukassen added.
The Thybo of the Year award was presented for the first time in 1998. This year's ceremony was attended by a number of previous winners, including surfer Casper Steinfath, forester Ditte Svendsen and Mayor Niels Jørgen Pedersen (V). The award is given to a person who has distinguished themselves and contributed to creating development in the region, including putting Thy on the map, whether it is through sports, business, culture or tourism initiatives.
